Self-Reflection: A Narrative Report on THE 2011 ANNUAL ECE CONFERENCE
To God be all the glory. Always and forever.
Patience
is a virtue. It really stretched out and tested my communication skills,
management skills and of course my personality starting from the preparation of
the documents up to the end of the event of which I am very blessed because I
learned a lot from it.
Being
the head organizer of the The 2011 Annual
ECE Conference, having with me the other 18 officers of ECESS and guided we
are by our advisers, the most difficult part for me was the execution of tasks
to the other members of the committees. It was easy for me to tell them what are
their tasks, but troubles came when I am about to explain the details and tell
the due date for their assignments. Dealing with my co-officers’ unique and
dense personalities was really the challenge because I have to convince them
that what I want is not exactly what I like to happen in the conference but what
will make them feel good about it and eventually tell me some suggestions and
alterations with the plans I have in mind. Despite of these problems of mine,
my co-officers and our advisers have been truly supportive to me all throughout
the pace of seminars of the conference.
Challenging
it was, since the conference has 16 seminars inside it. The paramount thing for
us was that we have to make sure that all the resource speakers will come on
the day of their talk because if not, I do not really know what to do. And
blessed are we, because all the speakers showed themselves on their scheduled
day. What I enjoyed the most was during those time we are searching for
companies, talking with people on the phone, composing letters and sending
these to them. It was exhausting and a pain in the neck because I admit; I
almost forgot that I am still a student. I made a lot of absences in the class
and missed several examinations. When some my classmates will tell me that I
missed a lecture in Safety Engineering class, I did not have an attendance in
Industrial Electronics class of Sir Ben or they will watch a movie at SM
Centerpoint after the class, I feel envious and started to laugh at myself. I
laugh at myself because I am delighted that although my mind does not want to
stay in Room 305 (where the ECESS headquarters was located then) and wish that ECESS will just vanish into my memory, my heart will
always tells me to stay there and do my responsibility.
Every
little thing I did made every little thing they did on this event to be
successful is not the proper way to express it. Instead, every little thing they do
made every little thing I did on this event to be successful. And who are these
they I am referring to? It is you- Dadalita, Obetty, Shein-aling, Vetotitz, Enjay Kupz, Karlita Mayora, Nes, Aleah, Abie, JP, Leo-Buboy, James, Leimer, Reinarth, Cess-pork cubes, Thyme, Mizalette, Anna and last but not the least JG. Oh I almost forgot, the advisers I am talking about are the amazing Engineers Sir Ben and Sir G (just their alias). Of course I can not forget the help of the other ECE faculties and my fellow ECE students- all these seminars are dedicated to you guys.
The success of the The 2011 Annual ECE Conference did not
happen just by fate but by faith. God provided everything and all the praises
goes out to Him only.
